Niswah opens with a fascinating mix of saffron, hazelnut, pink pepper and bergamot, creating a warm, slightly nutty introduction with a distinctly resinous edge. There are fruits underneath - raspberry, pear, red berries, blackcurrant and apple - but they don't immediately present as a straightforward fruity fragrance. Instead, they add a subtle sweetness and complexity beneath the richer opening.

As it develops, rose, jasmine, gardenia, frangipani and osmanthus begin to emerge alongside coconut, plum, cinnamon and smoky burnt wood. The fragrance becomes increasingly layered, moving between soft florals, warm spice and darker smoky facets without settling into any one category.

The base goes deep and indulgent, bringing oud, tobacco, labdanum, patchouli and sandalwood together with vanilla, cacao, caramel, amber and tonka bean. Sweetness runs throughout the composition, but it's wrapped in woods, resins and spice rather than feeling like a traditional gourmand.

Niswah is rich, unusual and genuinely difficult to put in a box. Nutty and resinous at first, smoky and floral through the heart, then warm, sweet and deeply woody underneath - this is one you'll want to experience on skin simply to see where it takes you.
